Hello! My name is Margaux, and I’m from Lebanon! What a coincidence to see you speak arabic, too! Ahla w sahla fiki! 8D I was roaming about on dA and came across your page, and I saw you had your own website! That’s amazing! I haven’t read anything yet though, but by looking at the art i can tell “Grey Is…” will be a wonderful story! ^w^ Good luck on making it a big hit! <3
I hope you don’t mind, though, if I share some things with you? I don’t know if you saw my comments on dA, but I really want to be a manga artist when I grow up. I was going to ask if you could give me some advice? For example, what would i have to go through to be in the field? Or even to make a website such as this? I’m getting the hand of drawing panels, but my layout still needs work… Anyways, it would mean so much if you gave me a few pointers, since at the moment i don’t really have anyone to ask ^^; I doubt there are any manga colleges or such things in lebanon… Are there in jordan? Because that would totally save me a trip to japan/ london xD Jordan is quite close to here, so i could go.. but now I’m getting off the point ^^; thanks so much for taking your time to read this, replying is very much appreciated! <3
Haha hi Margaux! I enjoyed reading your comment so much.
Thankfully, there is no manga college in Jordan. Why thankfully? coz this work is a labor of love (as many says) and my passion for it is what drives me to do more and more and learn all various things no matter how frustrating on my own, like building a website or even finding the time to replying to comments (even if it was late, better late than never, huh ;D ?)
Pointers?
Well I’m not one to give everything this is about the medium since I’m still learning too much but it’s really about the 3 Ps; passion, practice and patience.
You need to observe everything around you, and even when you’re reading manga, study what you’re reading. How the speech bubbles are drawn and where the light is coming from, viewing angles and everything.
Look up tutorials online and work work work with love.
I’ve been wanting to have a website since I was first introduced to the internet when I was 15 and I tried too many existing templates and read too many tutorials here and there (looking them up through google) until I was able to make this website using WordPress (in a beginner kind of way lol)
I really wish you all the best.
You just have to remember, that the more you give the more you get in return. and try to not listen to that voice within you ( on from outside) that tells you to give up.
